Met several neighbors out to check it out, all with whistles in hand. We all assumed it was ICE at night. This broken trust! I have lived near the Lake for decades; until recently a helicopter was bad news, meant someone was in the water. Now? Any helicopter means ICE coming for my neighbors. 2/2

Loud helicopter over NE Rogers Park. Lots of sirens (cops and fire) headed towards the Lake. Looks like someone went into the water, fell through the ice, between the breakwaters and Fargo Beach: cops and firefighters out with flashlights, and spotlight from helicopter for search. 1/2

I used to be worried when I heard a helicopter over the lakefront as someone may have drowned. Then came the daily, sometimes hourly, terror of the CBP/ICE helicopters. I'm ashamed that I'm relieved that the chopper out there now is CFD (probably someone in the lake) and not murderous Nazi spies.
