The 2026 World Cup is the first in FIFA history to require host cities to submit a human rights plan. Vancouver's plan was released in February. Community organizations say it offers no new protections for the people most at risk.

Steps from the Congress, UNITE HERE Local 40 workers rallied outside the Pan Pacific Hotel, where FIFA delegates were staying. It is one of the hotels projecting record World Cup profits. The workers are still negotiating for contracts that lets them afford to live in the city.

The city has installed approximately 200 new surveillance cameras to meet FIFA's requirements, with footage to be shared with FIFA and private security contractors. The cameras are concentrated in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

Chelsea and Man City in the FA Cup final. No other English clubs have systematically ignored, bent or broken the rules like both have done. In terms of trophies won, no other English clubs have been as successful over the past decade and a half either. The moral of the story - is that there is none.

I really do think we would see an immediate change in the political landscape and the way people relate and react to political happenings. Drain the nonstop outrage and things change.
