I saw Ragtime at the Lincoln Center yesterday and strangely today I think my computer is broken: it's only opening Joshua Henry youtube videos, not the things I'm supposed to be working on.

I keep coming back to this violation. My work was used, without my permission or any compensation, to train these models. I know a lot of people who have been using these things more, and say they the quality is much improved now, but it's still built on theft of my (and many others') work.

A vaccine against cancer still sounds so futuristic to me. It happened when I was already an adult! Now in places where the vaccine is available and encouraged, almost no one will have to suffer and possibly die of this cancer! Isn't it amazing what we can do??

I love how one of the factors is "rising consumer demand." How dare businesses respond to consumer demand by nefariously...providing a product consumers want?? In a capitalist society????

Making my way through the Expanse series on audiobook. Just started the 2nd to last novel, Tiamat's Wrath. My book club book is Celestial Bodies by Jokha Alharthi and I'm trying to make inroads on The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton, but I keep putting it down for too long in between reading.

Arguably 15 points on his license right there: reckless driving, failure to exercise due care, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. 11 points is grounds for suspension. Take away his license!

If you don't have enough control over your anger to keep yourself from using your car to physically assault college students who annoy you, you should not have a driver license, much less a million dollar a year job as a university president.

It is bonkers to me that the bicycle is ~140 years old, basically the same as the car. If you told me the ancient Egyptians or Romans had bicycles, I would believe you without a second thought. "The Romans built bicycle trails alongside the aqueducts crisscrossing their Empire." Very plausible!

This headline kind of buries the lede that when he uses the passage, he has the planner of the Sandy 1 mission speaking as God. I wonder if there's anything in the Bible about whether God likes it when people put something else in the place of God. Nah, that's probably nbd.

I have a theory that religious schools underperform in March Madness, so I picked against BYU & St. Mary's but picked TCU anyway bc my mom went there. I also picked VCU bc of family. I've gotten ridiculously lucky so far today & I'm at 99.9% in the ESPN bracket challenge. Enjoying it while it lasts.
