Anyone in BC complaining about the amber alert needs a geography lesson. The alert was issued IN TERRACE. The children were found IN BURNS LAKE. That’s 4 hours away. I’m so glad they were found safe. You can wake me up at any time for that.

My girl roommate is out for avalanche training and one of my guy roommates and his dad is here. I’m baking a blueberry crumble this morning and I’ve heard 3x so far: “mmm kitchen smells good!” “Mmmm blueberry” “Mmmm that looks good” It’s a good thing I did plan on sharing 😂

Someone broke into my car and stole all my CDs ☹️ There was even a $1 in there that I keep for grocery carts and it was untouched! Just the CDs, including one of my students singing circa 2016, and my signed Christmas album from James Hill and Anne Janelle.

May 5th was Leah’s last night. Tomorrow is the day she died. I can’t believe it’s already been a year. I can’t believe it’s only been a year! Frankly, I’m glad it still hurts this much and I hope the grief never goes away.

I held Leah. She had jumped out of my arms when the sedation needle went in and that haunts me. But I then gathered her in her favourite blanket that I still use and talked to her. I watched her eyes turn from clear green to an amber-ish colour. I told her it was okay to go to sleep, to rest now 💔

It’s coming into The Week That Leah Died Last Year time and I wish my mind wasn’t so fixated on dates. Last year this was a Tuesday and it was her last full Tuesday, and I had no idea so I went on a work trip from Thursday-Sunday 😭

When people give me a hard time about not wanting to stay in the north (“it’s a disgrace to train here, then move to a city!”), I say either: 1) I’d stay if it weren’t so racist. 2) Must be nice not having to worry about your aging parents and sacrificing some dreams to do what’s best for them.

As a music teacher, how often do you send out reminders that your student has a lesson? I have 3 students who, if I don't send weekly reminders, they will not come. They get charged anyway, but I feel bad because it accumulates. Maybe I should set up auto email reminders...
