Welp, finally got off my butt this week and began the process to find a house here in NY. The inventory isn’t very high where we want to live, but we have a few months before our apartment lease is up. Crossing fingers that we find something and the process isn’t too frustrating.

So if when talking about the new NFL helmet Transformers and wanting to get one, and my wife casually says I should get them all, she’s not able to get upset that I now have all four, right?

Found out that my 97 year old grandmother passed away in her sleep earlier tonight. We were expecting it, but didn’t know how soon it would be. I’m glad 2025 will soon be over. Hope 2026 is going to be better for everyone than 2025 was.

This year instead of Star Wars, the kiddo wanted to time Back To The Future with midnight. We started it at 10:19 and lightning should hit the clock tower at midnight. We will see.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. This is a recent picture I took of a fox that came within 10 feet of us on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park near Alberta Falls. The photo was taken with my Nikon Z50 and touched up with Lightroom on my phone.

I haven’t had this much fun watching a Memphis Tigers football team in years. Our last few teams have been great, but this team is just so good and does not let up on the gas. We need to run up scores like this and make it clear that we are the best team in the American. #gotigersgo

The other day my wife looked at the pond in the park nearby and exclaimed “why are the Canadian geese still here?!?” Without missing a beat I responded “tariffs.” It took a few seconds for her to recover from the amazing response. Or she was trying to recover from a groan. Either way it’s a win.

Tried the new @plex.tv mobile app yesterday and immediately forced quit on it. What the hell is that? It's too busy. Too many steps to get to my stuff. The old app wasn't perfect, but it was usable.

Did my duty. Hope Crawford pulls through. Lots of people at my voting location.

I feel like it’s been April Fools Day since January 20th because I can’t believe what is happening to this country is actually happening.

Look at this and the red states impacted. It’s going to be interesting watching the fallout of this. Personally, as someone that works for a university that is heavily hit by this, and married to a researcher who’s livelihood is dependent on grant funding I’m still trying to not panic over it.

Partially checked off a bucket list item today when we took a short detour and visited Metropolis, IL. I wish we had more time to spend as it was just a “jump out of the car, take some photos, and get back on the road” stop. As a lifelong Superman fan, this was so cool. I will be back one day.

I don't know what movie they watched. Captain America: Brave New World was a lot of fun, and a thriller that reminded me of Tom Clancy stories. Some great acting between Ford and Mackie. It's up there with Winter Soldier as my favorite MCU movie.

I woke up with a migraine today and after forgetting my ADHD meds and nothing to do, my brain decided it was time to work on organizing and tagging a bunch of audiobooks I got on Humble Bundle years ago. And to find complicated ways to do it. Well, it's halfway done and my brain is satisfied now.

I have no idea about who anyone was in the halftime show, but it was entertaining. The production efforts going into it were amazing.

I have started a spreadsheet with all my physical network ports, what they connect to, and what default VLAN they are in. I should have done this years ago when I started playing with VLANs. Shame it took a new router to get me to do it.

Goonies with the family. First time for the wife and kiddo, it’s been a few decades for me.

My in-laws were worried I’d be intimidated by my wife having more education than me (she’s a Ph. D, I got a masters years later). I’m not, she’s got her goals and I fully support them. I’m happy that my job gives me flexibility to be around because of her late hours during grant writing time.
