No amount of marketing advice or hustle culture bullshit about monetizing followers will fix the structural problems that make freelance art careers so difficult. Maybe spend more time asking why people can’t/don’t want to pay us? Why society can’t support us?

To add to today's art discourse, I work a full time public sector job because there is no way I can make enough from my art to pay my mortgage and bills. It's actually comforting to hear other artists say similar - it's easy to feel like a failure if you can't do art full time.
