The party in the White House always loses seats in the midterms. So this one decided not to play that game. They're changing who votes, which votes count, and where the lines are drawn-in broad daylight. New piece.

It is dizzying to have these self-enriching, self-fluffing, self-pleasuring corrupt ignormaus lunkheads in charge of the U.S. Government. I have mostly disconnected from that fact for a few weeks because I need breaks. It is catastrophically stupid and horrifically destructive all at the same time.

I read someone boasting they hadn't voted in 30 years because no one was good enough for them as though it were a badge of honor. Oddly, at the same time, they lamented the rise of conservative, right wing, anti-democracy fascism / gangsterism. Do they even understand their role in creating it?

One of the things I love about where I live: voting is accessible. I can vote by mail, the instructions are clear, and I have multiple ways to return my ballot. Even better, my community can get voting info in 18+ languages—because democracy works best when everyone can participate.

😩😩 I like that building high speed rail in California requires nine thousand years of environmental impact studies but throwing up a data center the size of Manhattan takes fourteen seconds with zero public hearings or support.

The books we read as children shape the readers---& people!---we become. Stop demeaning kidlit. Stop acting like anything meant for children is "lesser." Stop acting like children themselves are "lesser." I am THIS close to screaming incoherently in the face of anyone who does this from now on.

This is stunning reporting: Donald Trump’s so-called “Project Freedom” reportedly collapsed after Saudi Arabia blocked the U.S. military from using key Saudi bases and airspace for the operation, according to new reporting from NBC News. Link to the article in the reply.

to explain this, the air force uses a narrow corridor in saudi airspace near the iraqi border to get tankers between where they’re staged and the gulf (this is where the collision happened). losing that means it’s over, it more or less cuts them off from the persian gulf and beyond
