this morning i volunteered to weed the median in my neighborhood where they've planted native wildflowers and pollinators. spent two hours sweaty and covered in burrs and meeting wonderful neighbors. people stopped their cars to thank us, there were a million dogs out, and a LARP party in the park

i took a long train ride today and spent half of it next to a 93 year old man who became my train pal. he told me all about his life and right before his stop, about his son who had passed away six months earlier. after i helped him with his suitcase we hugged. it was nice and i want to remember it
