Sun update! The ELC is now booting as nature intended, as a diskless client off the SPARCstation 2. So many ancient skills had to be dusted off, from wiring 10BASE2 coax ethernet to reconfiguring the kernel. Happy days!

Worked on network monitoring software. We had to block HP networked printers in our scanning engine because their SNMP driver was so broken, simple queries crashed and rebooted the printer.

One of my first memories of using a computer was making a "WELCOME HOME" banner for my Nana after she got back from a cruise. I thought the PERFECT graphic for the ends was a Skull and Crossbones. It looked SO cool. My dad was not amused. It must have taken 20 minutes to print that thing.

Reminds me of my high school chemistry teacher who used a dot matrix printer to cover the ceiling of his class with millions of zeroes and exactly one other digit. So many kids got busted for not paying attention because they were literally just staring at the ceiling trying to find it.

People still make text adventure games like during the days of Infocom and they’re still very good! In fact, I think many of them are even better than the classics. You can download many free ones here ifdb.org
