Who is doing counter-recruitment organizing for ICE? As the economy worsens, those jobs and the loan forgiveness offer will become more attractive to unpoliticized individuals. There needs to be a clear social cost for even considering joining those ranks.

I have a term for this: Irritated vindication- situation where you are right or know you were going to be right about something, tried your best to tell people, and were ignored. When the thing happens, you are less happy about being right and more irritated that it had to come to that moment.

I’m not going to tell people how to feel about protests… at least not today. Instead, I’ll recommend Sarah Schulman’s book about ACT UP. It’s not just a history of the organization; she also talks strategy in a very practical way, especially regard coalitions.

And start planning ahead unions are mobilizing for May 1 international workers day. Yes it's a weekday. thats important we need to more people on the streets & we need to be out there on weekdays. I understand the realities but more of us can be out on weekdays

Protests aren’t the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but they’re incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation. It’s an essential step in the process.

The biggest thing we need to do is let people know that the protests are FUN. Yelling fuck the man is fun. You will meet fun people. We also need to make them more fun. Bring grills like the French. Bring instruments like it’s Mardi Gras. Give people a reason to spend their weekend in the streets.
