Since my family has been obsessed with superstition lately, I'm going to call the bluff and set up a lemon pig. With so much negativito in the US, as a result of terminally online content mills, it's best to protect myself.

2025 was possibly the lowest i've been career, financial, physical, emotional and mental health-wise. despite all that, i've been working hard to better myself to provide for the ones i love and care about, especially those who have supported me. i hope you'll stick with me this year.

it is really frustrating that the former leads to everybody else to look down on rural lives, intellect, and education, which leads to MORE OF THE FORMER and also leads to a dismissal of the latter, which is a huge, massive, glaring issue in the eyes of those experiencing it, for obvious reasons

We've now watched 4/5 underworld movies and its a weird case of, they all suck. They are all just, really not great films but every film after the first delivers more of what you wanted from the first (vampires fighting werewolves) because of CGI getting cheaper? But you missed your shot

there are ABSOLUTELY elements of thought from rural america that are dumb fearful nonsense. NO DOUBT lmao. it is, simultaneously, absolutely true that rural americans are marginalized, lack resources and structural support in all areas of life, tend to be poorer, and have less access to necessities

so yeah, i'm with you. i'm on your side. i want more congestion pricing, i want less cars, i want more public transport, less parking lots, etc etc. but flipping off anybody who has any even mild concern about it is as a podunk idiot? is also stupid

and yes, i hate to say it, because i want less cars and more public transportation too, but the people advocating for this shit are definitely saying, literally, "fuck you" to people who live outside the city limits. literally. on facebook. i know because my dad reads all the threads out loud lmao

example: if you make parking in the only city center within an hour $20/hr with the end goal of people driving less, and you don't have any public transportation to speak of, you're absolutely telling people outside of walking/biking distance to get fucked. that's an extra $40 per doctor appointment

i'm not really going to wade into the rural car-owner discourse here but "nobody is trying to implement congestion pricing in bumfuck middle-of-nowhere" not actually true. the nearest city center (pop 9000) is making sounds about precisely this in my parents' area, and yes, it is a Problem

as a person who lives in the city without a car who relies on public transportation, but who grew up rural (Actually Rural) and whose parents are dealing with it still: annoyed at discourse that presumes living 20 mins north of the city center on the freeway is the same as the boonies

whenever people talk about "the rural community" and what they want or need or deserve they're actually talking about middle class folks from the suburbs. you're welcome
