Psychology has long been weaponized for social control & eugenics, pathologizing dissent, and justifying oppression. From "Trump Derangement Syndrome" to race science creeping into mainstream politics, we’re seeing it again. Beware how power twists "science" to serve its agenda.

As therapists, it's not enough to be anti-oppressive or “culturally competent” - we need to be anti-fascist, anti-state violence, and anti-colonial.

Therapy shouldn’t numb you into accepting a sick system. It should wake you up, not put you to sleep.

Therapy is political because it exists within systems shaped by colonialism, capitalism, racism, ableism , heteronormativity & white supremacy. Mental health frameworks have been used to pathologize historically targeted communities while upholding norms that serve the state and dominant culture.
