My first assignment as a junior writer was the emails + news articles in Batman: The Enemy Within. I built out the world, deepened characters, + rewarded players with branched text that reflected their choices. In-game text can make the world feel like a handcrafted love letter, or a chore list.

Quick art tip: If your glowy lights look flat/boring (they read more like fog than light), it might be because you're fading from 100% to 0%. Instead, try using an off color, and boost it to, say, 150%. This gives the same peak color, but fades through a different tone. #gamedev #indiedev

One of my favorite things for this scene is stylizing real-world stuff - here's my interpretation of a WA native plant called a Mountain Pasqueflower. I think this makes the end product more compelling vs. just making a generic flower!

Working on a new scene in UE5, in a more stylized Overwatch-esque direction, and I think I'm getting somewhere! You may recognize these rocks from the other day :) Still super WIP though.
