It's okay everyone. We just need to persecute two or three more minorities and then you will finally be able to get a doctor's appointment.

At some point you'd think all the highly paid government analysts would go "huh, turns out trying to appeal to vibes rather than arguing facts doesn't work", but nope.

This response is understandable, and feels compassionate. I said very similar things about the area that I grew up, which voted heavily for Brexit. But the thing is: these people have been indulged in their ideas â which are racist, and also simply incoherent â for over a decade.

As people get ready to vote in the Scottish Parliament election please be careful of the spoiler operation which is 'Independent Green Voice'. They are listed second on the regional ballot paper in South of Scotland with the Green Party further down. IGV is a right-wing spoiler operation.

You might have seen a post about Nimbys in Chelsea objecting to the expansion of *an NHS cancer hospital*. It's even worse than it sounds. 1. It's not a hoax 2.
@jonnelledge.bsky.social
got in touch with them. I've got their response. 3. I dug out some objections. One of themâŠwell, just read it:

I have a similar issue with Star Trek thanks to an old YouTube (I think) clip, where everytime someone says "fire at will" I imagine Worf shooting Riker in the back and then sheepishly going "sorry".

Such a great example of the "both-sides"-ism that has infected the BBC at apparently every level. "This man was horrendously abused just for being a Muslim. On the other hand, maybe they're all asking for it?"

I dunno lads. On the one hand a sitting MP was murdered in her constituency. On the other hand a plumber won an election for the Greens and I think they're a bit smug. Who can say which was a more disturbing moment for British politics?

I dunno, Daily Telegraph. I kinda think this says more about the Press and their absolute raging hard-on for platforming Reform than it does about the popularity of the Greens.

Looks like The Discourse has moved on from blaming people for having a disability/blaming people for being black, and is now uniting behind blaming the BBC and the BAFTAs for creating a horrendous situation for everyone involved. Well done, everyone!

Some ppl need to read this and get educated before spouting off gross, ableist nonsense. Cos I can guarantee you, there are many POC with the same condition who are reading your âShould be muzzledâ comments and now know your âallyshipâ is conditional on how ânormalâ you deem their behaviour is.

I was at the Baftas â and while hearing the N-word was unsettling, all anger should be aimed at the BBC | Jason Okundaye
By failing to remove John Davidsonâs tic from the broadcast, editors let down both black and disabled people, says Guardian assistant Opinion editor Jason Okundaye

A man with Coprolaliac Touretteâs Syndrome (award-nominated for a film about his disorder) yelling the N-word at Black actors on stage, is an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. A trolley problem for a new era. Itâs a Woke 2.0 cosmic test of some kind. Too on the nose to engage with.

One thing we donât do well, societally or interpersonally, is digest harms when there really isnât anyone to blame. Being called a n*gger on international television in front of your peers is a harm. Having a disability that creates that harm through no choice of your own is a harm.

You know, the fact that some people think it was all deliberate is a damming indication of how badly we have failed as a society in addressing racism AND disability.

I'm probably going to be taking a social media break over the next few days. The incident at the BAFTAs, and the resulting ableism online has honestly triggered me with feelings I haven't felt in years. I'm autistic, and one of the things I have is intrusive thoughts.

I've tried to figure out why I prefer the prequels to the sequels... the world is more interesting. Like, Disney are refitting the theme park from ST to OT and how little work that will be shows how much the ST universe is just reheated leftovers.

The problem isn't "technology", but the implementation and "morality" around it. I would love it if humans got to Mars. I loathe Musk et al using "go to Mars" as a shiny object to deny any attempt to fix environemental or social issues on Earth and implement fascist policies that help no-one.

I think the issue with Kermit is that all the other replacements they've done (Fozzie, Piggy, and Kermit the first time) sound extremely close to the original, so the fact that Vogel isn't quite as good at doing an impression of Henson/Whitmire makes it stand out more. Still, really enjoyed it.
