final update, i sent it without the border attached. i got the border pieces cut, starched & pressed & then my entire being shut down. i packed up what i have and sent it off. 5½ pounds of fabric doesn't sound like much til you have to shove it through a sewing machine.

i was wrong. i had 8 seams left at that time. now i just have the border left to attach. i'm pretty pleased w how it's come out so far, though.
