In the wake of all the news coming out of the US and the amount of shouting at the TV I've done, I thought everyone else might benefit from one of my favourite photos from 2017 to break up the doom scrolling. I cannot fix the big things, so here's a small thing.

Timothy C. Roth, a member of Maryland's 'Task Force Turtle' (TFT) snapped this photo of a female common snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina) emerging from brumation in a dry lake mudhole with 18 lbs of dirt & grass on her back. TFT tag these animals with radio transmitters to track movements.

Yesterday, in a fit of ‘mustn’t waste all this leave’ I went through the linen press and started sorting. This led to discovering a bunch of yellowing pillowslips, which led to a big hot & heavy wash. It’s amazing what that and a bit of sunshine can do 🌞
