In the wake of all the news coming out of the US and the amount of shouting at the TV I've done, I thought everyone else might benefit from one of my favourite photos from 2017 to break up the doom scrolling. I cannot fix the big things, so here's a small thing.

Timothy C. Roth, a member of Maryland's 'Task Force Turtle' (TFT) snapped this photo of a female common snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina) emerging from brumation in a dry lake mudhole with 18 lbs of dirt & grass on her back. TFT tag these animals with radio transmitters to track movements.

Delighted my article on Australia’s shameful education system (stealing resources from children of the poor to further advantage children of the better off) features in The Saturday Paper’s list of its best in 2025. Hope it also helps drives change.

I’m just at the point where if we need a freaking royal commission into one awful and tragic attack carried out by two extremists, why can’t we have one into the scourge of domestic violence that takes pretty much one woman’s life each week…carried out by “he seemed like a pretty good bloke”

I am once again saying that incels and conservative men could date all the conservative trad wives and pick mes they want who will happily submit to them. But they don’t want that. They want to take an ambitious woman who won’t submit and break her. It’s a game to these abusive freaks.

That dickhead fisherman who caught that shark, and then “cut it free”. Meaning he left the hook in the poor thing’s mouth. And the put him on the news. Yeah, let’s glorify the torture and torment of an animal Channel 9, that’s a fucking great idea.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have shown Alzheimer’s disease can be REVERSED- not just prevented. Using a potent neuroprotective compound called P7C3-A20, they found RESTORING balance to a central cellular energy molecule (NAD+) not only PREVENTED disease features but REVERSED them, EVEN at late stages.

Yesterday, in a fit of ‘mustn’t waste all this leave’ I went through the linen press and started sorting. This led to discovering a bunch of yellowing pillowslips, which led to a big hot & heavy wash. It’s amazing what that and a bit of sunshine can do 🌞
