Thanks to Josh for getting the word out about this meeting. To add a couple things to his summary of the proposed amendments: The executive officers Josh mentions — City Operations Officer and Community Safety Commissioner — were created by ordinance in 2022.

Among the many other reasons why this is bad, it appears that the Frey administration is proposing delivering $2.1 million in capital gains to an LLC, seemingly connected to a private equity firm based in St. Louis Park, that purchased the property less than three years ago.

My view as a parent who has been somewhat involved in the "transformation" process: There aren't really good candidates for school closures. Low-enrollment schools aren't evenly distributed, we can't just close all the schools in an area (north, but not just north).

Fuck ICE. Abolish ICE. If these cowards leave it's because our fellow neighbors stood up to tyranny and defended their community members. This is not a political win, but a win of the people, by the people, for the people. It is now us politicians' jobs to seek justice and restitution.

I wonder if it ever bothers Tom Homan that he is a prominent public official with a simple, eight-letter name, and yet almost nobody can spell it correctly. I see at least a half-dozen wrong variations regularly. I don't care, mind you; I just wonder.

With the announcement that the ICE surge in MN is ending, I’m thinking about how so many people thought the child in Bad Bunny’s halftime performance was Liam Ramos and how our need for Hollywood endings and satisfying payoffs might hinder us from dealing with the painful and traumatic aftermath.

I believe Walz, Frey, Witt, O'Hara genuinely want the ICE surge out of MN and Minneapolis. Some of them genuinely might want all of ICE out for good. At the same time, the ICE surge is not an existential threat to their jobs/careers. The appearance of disorder in the streets is. An uprising is.

So, let me get this straight, and please correct me if I'm wrong? 1. The Dems and GOP made a deal to keep everything running except DHS, so there won't be a government shutdown. 2. If a deal isn't reached, the DHS will shut down. 3. But everything else keeps running. What's a downside for the Dems?

Hello. I prosecuted crime for a long time. The process of getting a warrant is type out your probable cause statement, call a judge and swear under oath that it’s true, and if the judge finds PC the warrant gets signed. It is not hard: if you have PC they sign. It’s so fucking easy even cops do it.

Some Dems have told themselves only ~1% of the population is trans so they can dip their toe in the anti-trans filth and come out clean. I don't have any trans family members—but it still makes me irate. I see it as a huge red flag, a sign you are unprincipled and untrustworthy. And I'm not alone.

Disheartening to see federal agents take two neighbors on 29th & Pillsbury. Chemical irritants were used on observers by them. MPD showed up on scene, created a pathway for these federal agents to kidnap our neighbors, and assisted with controlling the space. Disappointing and heartbreaking.

i wanna lay this out a bit more. it comes down to the unity vs. solidarity issue that's plagued democrats for years and is, to me, one of the central reasons for this ongoing fight between (mostly white, cishet) centrists and leftist progressives.
