IIRC, Gerry Conway mentioned that one of his favourite works was his excellent Cinder & Ashe Limited Series, a 1980s crime thriller in New Orleans. The arts was by the great José Luis García-Lopéz. Not sure how easy it is to find nowadays. If you can't get it, there are writeups for the two leads.

RIP Gerry Conway, author of countless seminal comic stories from my (and so many other’s) childhoods. I especially loved his pairings with artists Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Don Newton, John Romita and Jim Aparo. A great writer and human.
