As we have the hottest ever June days in London I have spent the last two evenings in York House for committee meetings. In an effort to keep the room cool air conditioning units and fans did a moderately good job. Unfortunately it made hearing people very difficult.

The UK's sanctions on Russia had a hidden loophole exempting refined oil exports, one of Russia's most critical revenue streams. Jeremy Purvis, Lords leader, pushed back and secured a government concession. The loophole will be closed thanks to Lib Dem campaigning.
