Bob Humphrey Taylor was a pillar of the community, and a driving force behind so many projects across Mellor and Marple. I was able to raise this in parliament last week, and to ask for the opportunity to push the case for Marple Locks to be a World Heritage site, which would be a fitting tribute.

Today is St George's Day, and it's important to celebrate the remarkable place where we live. The campaign to make Marple Locks (and the aqueduct and viaduct) made a World Heritage site has been one that has hit the headlines – even reaching newspapers in Australia. The Gov't changed the process for issuing death certificates last year, to ensure that there was more oversight, but which has considerably lengthened the time taken to get certificates issued.
