more escalations like this likely mean oil prices continue heading higher when markets open tomorrow night. We’re going to see a dozen states and more push higher gas prices down around mid-day Monday, especially in price cycling states. Be prepared.

It’s interesting that we haven’t seen the much-vaunted ground offensive yet. I’m guessing it’s because, like I’ve been saying, there really aren’t enough U.S. troops in the region yet to do it with “acceptable” levels of casualties.

San Francisco is just cents away from becoming the first ever city in the U.S. to see average diesel prices reach $8 per gallon, while the state average for diesel in California stands at $7.63/gal. 7 states with prices over $6.

Few things would make me happier than the demise of the tyrannical Castro regime. Few things would be more disgusting than replacing this with the wanton pillage of Cuba by Trump and his cronies, under the banner of “freedom”.

It would be useful if the NYT explicitly stated that the pilot, if captured, would be a POW, that there are laws governing how POWs can be treated, that respect for international law on war shapes how the enemy approaches it, and this is why the US conduct of this illegal war has been so dangerous.

Of course the NATO treaty has always had a defined geographic scope around the north Atlantic. It didn't obligate NATO to defend Britain when Argentina occupied the Falkland Islands, and it didn't obligate the United States to help European powers hold colonies in Africa or Asia.
