Not only is gas power (methane) contributing to climate change via CO2 combustion emissions and uncombusted methane releases, many of these data centers are using power generation equipment with even higher emissions than industry standard gas turbines – so it is even worse.

JUST IN: Virginia adopted a new law yesterday to forbid sheriffs & local police from contracting with ICE — if ICE doesn't say it'll follow state laws & agree to let its agents be prosecuted. Everyone seems to agree ICE won't promise that, and that this spells the end of ICE contracts in Virginia.

A new law does not outright bar local contracts with ICE. But they can continue only if ICE accepts due process rules and state courts having power over its officers.

NEW: I've been shocked by some of the numbers I've been seeing on behind-the-meter power plants for data centers, so I did a little math. less than a dozen gas plants being built to power data centers for big tech companies could emit a maximum of nearly 130 million tons of CO2e each year (!)

“Why aren’t college students protesting” stories are almost always wrong (they are protesting), omit crucial context (they were brutally punished for protesting before), and somehow suggest that 19 yr olds have more moral responsibility than elected officials three times their age

Some of you may have heard me rant about “movement lawyers” who can’t/won’t/don’t have the skills/experience to do what movements need us to do which is fight & defend people when the state deploys legal machinery to wage war on resistance. This is your chance to get skilled up & get in formation 👇🏽
