I lowkey played myself by finishing the Heated Rivalry book ahead of the show finale. It kind of felt like a letdown b/c I was already not loving how the book ended & the show couldn’t really save the source material writing. But I think it was always going to be impossible to beat episode 5 anyway.

I’m not about to lose a vacation day to write a column on this but please know one part of my brain is trying to figure out where this goes on the power ranking of dumb NWSL decisions. The eligibility criteria is somehow worse even though we sort of knew it.

Ah yes, the famously informed and reflective Ballon d’Or Féminin and a not-at-all convoluted and devoid of ball knowledge “SportsPro Media Top 150 Most Marketable Athletes.” An all-time fumble from a league that looks less confident in its trajectory and planning with every passing week.

The HIP rule is such an insult to so many of the players that make the NWSL great to watch. I just can’t believe they think this is an adequate response to the very real problem of top talent leaving for Europe. This will weaken the league. Such a massive bummer.

I am hearing there has been progress in USL labor negotiations and that there are more talk plan between now and the day the CBA formally expires on December 31. Sticking points remain over Health Care, base compensation and licensing fees.
