It is *incredibly* shabby that the Green Party cited "family and personal reasons" for their Makerfield candidate dropping out, given it was actually in relation to sharing antisemitic posts. Had a right-wing party done the same, they'd be getting called out loudly here for it. And rightly so.

First past the post is contributing to disillusionment with politics. It risks an unrepresentative, populist government elected by perhaps 30% of people who vote. The Representation of the People Bill is an opportunity for the Government to introduce proportional representation.

Ngl I think one of the best albums (ever written?) is Forever Young by Alphaville. Great music and vocals right through, and every song on it is consistently good and individually worth listening to in their own right

Quite a disturbing glossing over Eurovision on R4 Broadcasting House just now. Mentioning that we did Eurovision during the Cuban Missile Crisis and “it’s easy for Ireland to boycott” because they’ve done so badly recently

I’ve had it on my shelf for over a decade and felt like a 16 year old reading it, but I just finished The Maze Runner and even though the writing isn’t amazing, it was genuinely enjoyable and easy to get through. Would very much recommend as a book to switch off with

There's a lot of insane stuff here, but I think that we should really zero in on how he didn't want to drink more water, his computer decided that he wasn't and after that he told it to turn into creepy mommy. It's a complete surrender of his agency to the agent he's supposed to be running.

If there is a stitch up to get Burnham back into Parliament, I just hope that he keeps the staff of the MP he replaces. They don’t deserve to lose their jobs just because Andy Burnham wants to be PM.

Absolutely right. It is not “addiction to drama” or “personality politics” - there are fundamental problems of policy or governing that these protagonists either failed at or inflicted on the country and got their comeuppance.
