I’ve written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage urging them to condemn Donald Trump’s attack on the BBC. The BBC belongs to Britain, not Trump. We must defend it together.

I had the odd doubter two weeks ago, but I'll say it again: "Donald Trump is the most significant threat to NATO." Whatever our government says on the surface, it had better be working tirelessly with EU allies to manage that threat and minimise the potential for future threats.

Trump's tariff threat to the UK and NATO allies marks a dangerous departure as he pursues the illegal annexation of Greenland. He hasn't attacked a NATO ally militarily - yet - but he has done economically. The UK must stand with our allies and face down his bullying tactics.

The headline misses the point. Reform aims to replicate MAGA's success in the United States, whereby it rose to prominence by cannibalising the Republican Party. Farage isn't worried about becoming Tory Party 2.0, he intends to cannibalise and replace it.

What do you suppose attracts a man who misused public money as an MP, to a party run by a man who misused public money as an MEP? Zahawi and Farage are birds of a feather and if you vote for Reform, you'll get Conservative.

I'm going to boost this again tonight because it gets forgotten so often. When people choose at the ballot box, they choose the Lib Dems, as we start to think about the local election campaigns for May 2026, this is going to be the story. Let's hope that the media start paying attention.

Great powers have always, to some extent, written the rules for themselves. But this should be a reminder that for all we might lament the “rules based order”, it’s largely gone, if it ever existed. Hard power is the only thing which matters now. Europe needs to wake up to the new realities.

Other countries are already acting to protect children from the harms of chatbots and social media. 2026 must be the year the UK does the same, by putting children’s mental health before corporate profit.
