Great powers have always, to some extent, written the rules for themselves. But this should be a reminder that for all we might lament the “rules based order”, it’s largely gone, if it ever existed. Hard power is the only thing which matters now. Europe needs to wake up to the new realities.

Other countries are already acting to protect children from the harms of chatbots and social media. 2026 must be the year the UK does the same, by putting children’s mental health before corporate profit.

We just defeated Nigel Farage’s Bill in Parliament to tear up people’s rights and withdraw from the ECHR. Farage wants to do away with the Britain Churchill built and turn it into a version of Trump's America. We stopped him.

Over the weekend, the Shadow Home Secretary showed how spineless the Conservative Party has become by failing to immediately call out Pochin’s racist remarks for what they were. It’s about time they stood up for the traditional British values of decency and tolerance, rather than bowing to Farage.

Sarah Pochin’s remarks were blatantly racist. Decent MPs from across party lines should now come together to condemn this disgraceful behaviour and show the public that this will never be tolerated by Parliament.

ICYMI on Sarah Pochin's remarks to Talk TV on Sat, where she complained that “adverts are full of Black people and Asian people”, Lib Dem MP Max Wilkinson said: "Nigel Farage keeps insisting that racism has no place in his party. Now is his chance to prove it - he must withdraw the whip."

A far right politician with credibility is dangerous: they dog whistle rather than speak their racism aloud, and they speak calmly and clearly. We're sure they're racists, but it's hard to prove. I'm really grateful when the likes of Pochin say the quiet part out loud and prove it for free.

Brexit has been a shit show, and whether or not you agree that that was inevitable, the fact is that long after Farage set our country on this unnecessary misadventure, the Conservative Party had every opportunity to minimise the damage. Labour as toothless on the matter now, as they were in 2016.

The Tories can shout at me all they like, but the truth is their Brexit deal it is hurting our country and Labour won’t do anything about it. Today I urged the Prime Minister to actually fix it.
