Reading should be a joy and not a chore. If you're not in the mood or can't find just the right book, it's okay to take a break. I've never been a constant reader. We all have our own unique relationship with books. And, books are always there when you're ready for them.

We have a rule in my house w the kiddos, anytime they want a book 📚, the answer is ALWAYS yes.
