Do you know how many generated and partially-generated stories authors have tried to submit to Clarkesworld over the last three years? Thousands upon thousands. But they all check a box saying their story didn't use it. It's no longer just side-hustle crap and it's really depressing.

We play games because we believe on some level that they develop us for the true challenges of the world. If only we were a little more analytical, a little more perceptive. But we're lying to ourselves. The true challenges are rigged against us. The only rational action is the flip the table.

Imagine if you designed a game where turn after turn of really good play just slows the rate at which almost all players fall behind, and simultaneously boosts a player from reward to reward who was chosen for them even before the game began, and with no bearing on how well they play their turns.

I've been thinking about how to organize a silent/solo game meetup for a while. At a library? Somewhere else? I love the idea of playing solo ttrpg games together. The idea is not unlike silentbook.club but the logistics, as with all things, can be complicated. Any experiences to share?
