Samir has such a way with their writing of picking at the scabs of complicated relationships and "Starspeaker" really digs into a parental relationship that encompasses pain, resentment, duty, love, and all the contradictions that having all those feelings at the same time involves. Love this story.

I had a great time at Leeds Lit Fest! Got to meet fellow authors, and our editor from Carnyx Press for the "Oaths and Offerings" anthology of folklore-inspired tales we all wrote (see below.) It was so fun to natter about writing and folklore together, and the crowd asked interesting questions too!

Since I'm going through my camera roll, here is a (rare) photo of me from last Sat at Leeds Lit Fest. I haven't worn a waistcoat for several decades. But a side effect of writing two mostly gay Regency-like romances in short order has been that I developed a fresh hankering to wear a waistcoat. 😅

My story in this book is titled, "Away with the Fairies". Of course I had to take the anthology down to the York Foss Fairy Trail, to get some reactions from the local fairies. 🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️🧚 As I set the book out, the wind shuddered through the trees. A mysterious voice seemed to whisper, "Out on June 4th?"
