The firefly is back glowing gently around my bed in the darkness. I don't know how he gets in and out, but I love it. There's actually a small part of me that is truly starting to think this is a gift from my Jiji up above. I'm having a hard time in life. He's helping me keep my magic.

I know you all love it, but this trend of gas stations the size of a mall is cringe af. I'd rather have the investment in public transportation infrastructure or ya know, small businesses.

Something I consider a wonderful accessibility feature for depression in communication is the text feature where you can acknowledge a text with an emoji. So even with low mental battery I can at least "communicate" with my loved ones. It's a nice compromise.

I've been thinking about wounds & healing both physically & not. We don't talk enough about how healing is a painful process. A slower one than the wound that requires more effort. And bc of that, a lot of people choose to stay wounded instead feeling that pain. Please do the work. It's worth it. ❤️

what we can survive

Going through my own crucible and giving everything I got to save what goodness is left inside of me. Took a midnight drive to the lake after work, & I sat watching the deer being present and unhurried, & enjoying the summer night. I am reminded that nature knows what it's doing. Be like nature.

He passed long ago, but I still talk to him almost daily. The best grandpa to ever do it. He had one of the hardest lives, and yet, he was one of the most joyful, compassionate, and resilient people I have ever known. Known for his laughter, joyfulness, and generosity, he's my hero & role model.

On Father's Day, I think about my school dads. My 2 mentor professors who made sure I graduated even though I was completely overwhelmed by trauma and mental illness. They did more for my self esteem & growth than my own dad. And I love them both very much still.

A firefly somehow got in the house, and he is lighting up around my bed. Friends, the way I am over the moon right now. This feels like a sign from my Jiji as it is father's day, and I miss him every day. 💖💖💖

I should already be in bed for the morning shift, but I didn't leave work until 11:30p. And there's always time for Toshiko Akiyoshi. Jazz, baby. It soothes my crippled soul.

Work isn't completely terrible today. My oldest is with me, and we're watching GRUMPIER OLD MEN. The Matthau/Lemon duo in movies was unmatched.

Saw a raccoon that died on the road. I imagined it's beautiful lil spark leaving its body when it died & going back into the universe. On the way home, I stopped to push the body into grass so at least it becomes part of the Earth again. Nothing really dies. We're all part of the universe swirl.

I think we really need to stop using the excuse “but its for kids” when trying to justify when something is terrible. Kids aren’t dumb, they know when something is total garbage as well.
