Today's small joys: A short walk in cold rain. Petting a cat. My kids snuggling & laughing together. A folded sour cream and onion chip. Heard a new song I enjoyed.

My son starts college in a week, and unfortunately because of our circumstances, it has been with very little fanfare compared to what other kids experience. But he doesn't mind, & I know when I have the means that I will celebrate how I wish we could. I'm so proud to raise a thoughtful, wise kid.

I fell asleep and dreamed that I turned an old mall from the 80s into housing but kept all the interior walking paths, fountains, and food court. Now someone give me all the money to do this for real.

We needed joy. We talked about our big sad and scary feelings then rewarded ourselves with s'mores for dinner and played board games as a family. When you feel like you can do nothing, you can still always build community, even in your own home.

I spent 2 hours watching Ryukyuan fabric being made from plant to kimono the old way, and it is the most moving piece of cinema I've seen in a while.

I'm not trying to be a homesteader or anything, but I'm extremely interested in making my lifestyle more zero waste and less consumption driven. We already try to do that as a family, but I want to see a bigger change where we are less reliant on a shit government.

If you looked at my music history and saw that it's 50% Okinawan Minyou and 50% Enka, you'd assume I'm someone's bachan. I'm fine with this.

I started the day overwhelmed and stressed, bc being sick in this economy & country is pretty much a death sentence. But I'm keeping in mind how rich I am in friendship & love- a thing you can't buy. And I'm just going to focus on that & do what I can. I will make whatever situation happens, work.

My joy at being able to pull thru my last hospital visit has been replaced by the anxiety that it would've been cheaper to die. Just throwing this out there hoping for a miracle. I've got PayPal or cash app too.

I want to focus on & teach my kids sustainable living. One way is kids & I are going to enroll in a basic sewing class. Learning to mend and do basic tailoring goes a long way in repairing and reusing clothes. I encourage others to as well. 2nd is reducing use of paper & plastic, not just recycling.
