If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

This is basically it. It doesn’t matter if it’s done faster or cleaner or whatever. If it’s just what you do it’s done for the reasons you do it. And we, as creators, gotta start hardlining that we, as creators, don’t owe anyone anything, unless we’re being paid or doing it for ourselves.

Seeing this reminded me of a pattern I've noticed among passionate LLM/Gen AI advocates on here: A number of them are bad at talking to people, in a weird and specific way.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Canceling your subscription to an AI service makes the world a better place by default! You stop lighting the world on fire, feeding the plagiarism machine, and exposing an otherwise capable human brain to harmful garbage—all in a single action

i know it's just advertisement but it still pisses me off when tech CEOs claim AGI will solve humanity's problems with its vast intelligence. for a lot of problems we already know the solutions, what prevents them being solved is not a lack of intelligence, but that the solutions are unprofitable
