The River Cam should be safe for everyone but it’s now rated ‘poor’ for water quality. Urgent action is needed to tackle sewage pollution and protect one of Cambridge’s most treasured spaces. I've written to our MP & the CEO of Anglian Water to ask for urgent action to address this.

The Liberal Democrats have been clear from the start that the final guidance must be inclusive, workable and provide clarity to business and providers, trans, non-binary people and women so that no one is left exposed to legal risk, or worried about whether they can safely access public facilities.

I am very concerned that not only does this guidance not appear to do this, but that it actively creates a situation where anyone could be challenged about accessing facilities based simply on how well someone else believes they visually conform to gender stereotypes.

This is unworkable and a huge step backwards for human rights. I will be calling on the Government to urgently rethink this before it's too late.

We won every seat on Richmond upon Thames Council last week. But that doesn’t mean we’ve changed our mind on electoral reform. It’s time the Government stopped defending a broken system out of self-interest and backed proportional representation.

Council Tax has become increasingly regressive. It now takes nearly 5% of income from the poorest families but barely 1% from the richest. For many, it's become a grinding monthly obligation to rival the Poll Tax.

This week, the govt wrote to Cambridge City Council, giving Labour the option to cancel May's local elections. I believe they should go ahead. Before 15th Jan, please write to the Labour Councillors here -

I'm delighted that the UK will be re-joining the Erasmus scheme. This is something the Lib Dems and I have long championed. Erasmus opens doors for young people from the UK and across Europe to share experiences, broaden horizons, and build lasting connections.

The Conservatives have lost overall control of Surrey County Council for the first time since the 1990s after the Lib Dems won a local by-election. Voters in Surrey are backing the Liberal Democrats' community politics over the Conservatives, just as they did in the General Election.
