A busy week in #Guildford and Westminster! I challenged the Government on fixing joint enterprise law, met school leaders to discuss SEND, held a casework surgery, picked winners of my annual Christmas card competition, and marked 110 years of the Women’s Institute with a commemorative tree.

I have urged the Government to adopt the review mechanism set out in my amendment to the Sentencing Bill, establishing a statutory process to review convictions. This would ensure that individuals still imprisoned under legal tests now deemed flawed have true access to justice.

This morning I attended a service for #ArmisticeDay2025 at the Recording Angel Monument in Parliament. It is so important that we remember those who served and died for our freedom, those who live with trauma and injury from their service, and reflect on how we can seek peace.

Really special to come together with colleagues from all sides to mark 75 years since the Commons Chamber was rebuilt after bomb damage in WWII. Moments like these remind us of the history we’re part of and I'm proud to play a small role.

Working with my Liberal Democrat colleagues and several MPs from other parties, today we successfully voted down Nigel Farage’s Bill which aimed to withdraw the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights. This was an important stand for the values Britain helped to shape and defend.

Earlier I joined Surrey MPs to meet Local Government Minister, Alison McGovern, to hear the decision on the future of Surrey's councils. I'm disappointed Government has ignored the clear resident view that three councils would be better than two but we now at least have a decision. More to follow.

Community Rail groups, such as the Friends of Horsley Station, play a vital role in enhancing the environment at our local stations for the benefit of all rail users. I was pleased to welcome attendees of the Community Rail Conference to #Guildford and to thank them personally for their hard work.

I was delighted to visit the Cancer Research UK shop in Guildford, meet members of the fantastic volunteer team, and even try my hand at steaming some of the donated clothes! The Guildford shop currently has around 25–30 volunteers, but they’re always looking for more helping hands!

It's the final week of conference recess before Parliament returns next week and I've been making the most of it with meetings and visits galore! Here is a snapshot of my week.
