_**Rose City Band**_ _**/**__**Powers-Rolin Duo**_ _**- Bowery Ballroom, New York City, July 19, 2025**_ As you can see, the mighty Rose City Band is currently touring the USA, bringing good vibes to a nation very much in need of good vibes. And hey, when RCB hits Colorado for two shows, none other than Prairiewolf will be opening — Cervantes on Sept. 29 and Boulder on Sept. 30! We are psyched to say the least. As someone who has loved Ripley Johnson’s work stretching back to those early Wooden Shjips releases, it’ll be a total honor to warm up the stage for him and his talented crew. Rose City Band has continued to develop into a truly stellar live act — check out a typically steady and solid Roolin video of their mid-summer gig at the Bowery Ballroom, which sees them building the jams up and breaking them down, all with an expert sense of pacing and dynamics. “I hope someone’s tapin’!” one dude yells at some point. Someone was! Onstage, RCB takes some cues from jamband traditions, but there’s a precision and power here that’s often lacking in that scene. Extremely good stuff. On this particular NYC evening, the awesome Powers-Rolin Duo opened up, and Roolin also shared a portion of that set, giving us a little bit of Jen and Matt’s sublime dulcimer/guitar blend. And what the hell does Prairiewolf sound like in September 2025?! Well, we’ve got a very nice Disco Stew tape of our show up in Fort Collins earlier this month, highlighted by a sit-in from Matt “Rayonism” Loewen on modular clarinet. The closing “Silver Cycles” is one for the ages, trust me.
