. Clarifying the duration of Scottish half-times. A 10min break was the norm everywhere until 1995 when IFAB under pressure from broadcasters extended it to 15min max for commercial reasons. With less commercial pressures, the Scots were less strict about adhering to it

Yesterday at EDI airport I noticed a guy with this crest on his jacket. I knew it was Gimnasia y Esgrima but didn't know whether it was the club from La Plata or Mendoza, so had to look it up. Luckily I saw him again at LHR and said "Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza ?" Sí !, he said with a huge smile

50 years ago, 12 May 1976, I was at Hampden Park for a memorable European Cup final between Bayern Munich and St Etienne. The Germans won 1-0, the French were hard done by, with Hampden's square goalposts entering into legend.
