Today I found out Governor McKee is replacing me on the Energy Efficiency Council. I have been publicly fighting back against his proposed cuts to clean energy and energy efficiency- which would drive up our energy costs and leave us over-reliant on expensive gas.

In our defense, the Constitutional Convention exceeded its authorization & ratification violated the Articles. And the Founders absolutely hated RI. Henry Knox compared our regular state of affairs to Shay's Rebellion and Madison told Washington it was better that we hadn't sent delegates to Philly.

It was 1776, RI had been in a state of war with the Crown since 1775 when the GA raised Varnum's Regiment (later the 1st RI Rgt), then sent it out to fight the Siege of Boston with the rest of the Army of Observation, so it's hard to say any retaliation would've been prompted by legislation

Yeah, it's worth noting the Patriot/Loyalist/Undecided split was something like 1:1:1, so there was a healthy diversity of viewpoint at the founding. A lot of people believed we could be reconciled to the UK. Independence closes that door. At that point, it's all or nothing for both sides.
