I've been adding some cheap DVDs to my collection lately. I'm a firm believer in physical media (Feel free to send me your collection if you're tired of it). That said, for a new acquisition, does it go under A for "The Adventures of" or P for Priscilla, Queen of the Desert?"

Lots of places now are now clearancing out their DVDs for cheap. I was thinking of @alphachromeyayo.com when I found a trilogy of Christmas movies starring Columbo's Peter Falk as an angel. I love finding weird things I didn't know existed.

One of my languages is that if I see something a character i know a loved one loves, I'll send a picture, a link, or something to denote "hey, it's that character you like!" I love it when people do that for me with my favorites. Who are your "hey, it's my character!" characters?

Having seen #Superman I can say that @jamesgunn.bsky.social 's biggest talent as a director is having enough respect for his audience to fill his movies with ridiculous, outlandish, comic-level ideas and then execute them with a level of empathy and humanity that makes them still feel real.

So, the good news is that you can now get notifications for specific people on BlueSky, which is one thing I missed about the old place. Now I have to go though the process of ringing that bell on many people.

I think one of the truly sad tragedies if this initial AI era are those who have bought into "prompt writing" as a marketable skill, like that won't be the very next thing AI creators shore up. I hate to be the guy tapping the sign again, but you are not USING AI, you are TRAINING it to replace you.

Adaptations, remakes, and sequels are not new, nor are they inherently bad. Since people in animal skins sat around fires telling each other stories, they have been retelling stories they heard, changing them to suit their tastes or to fit the listener. But if you want to tell a story, tell it well.

Probably about as cheap as it gets for tape storage
