I thought this turned out to be a neat photo. Taken early on Saturday morning after our (hopefully) last frost of the season, and the foliage was dripping with water droplets in Tom Sawyer Park.

Waking up, seeing a tiny little bird on the wire... I couldn't help but say this out loud.

Our new favorite time to visit the Zoo is Easter morning. It was a beautiful day, and hardly anyone was there. Here are a few of my favorite shots: Bald Eagle, Flamingos, Ring-tailed Lemur, and Pygmy Hippopotamus.

These massive pink snails, promoting breast cancer awareness, appeared overnight in front of the Oldham County Library! They certainly caught my attention as I drove by.

Max would appreciate all your well wishes and virtual pets! We noticed he was having trouble in the liter box due to a blockage. One vet visit & surgery later, our boy is on the mend. He's recovering nicely and his mood vastly improved when we upgraded his recovery cone to the plush flower cone.

The weather was too beautiful not visit the Louisville Zoo yesterday. I brought along my camera as usual; here are a few of my favorite shots.

A Yellow-rumped Warbler, proudly demonstrating why birders affectionately call them "Butter Butts". This little guy was on my suet feeder this afternoon.

A few wildlife friends I saw during this morning's trip to Tom Sawyer Park. This White-breasted Nuthatch insisted on posing, and the White-tailed deer were plentiful throughout the park.

*Backyard Owl Update* my Eastern Screech Owl is still roosting in the tree box. Around 6pm until darkness appears to be when this owl likes to stick it's head out of the hole and observe the yard.

Today, I was ecstatic to discover that I have a new backyard neighbor, this wonderful Eastern Screech Owl. I installed this owl box over 7 years ago, fully visible from my sofa, and this evening was the very first time I had a face looking back at me!

I really enjoy how cold this photograph feels, the cool blues of the Bluejay, the snowflakes frozen in the empty space around the bird. It just screams "WINTER"!

While it's normal for the birds to wait their turn at the feeder in nearby trees on snowy days, sometimes they find the perfect branch without any obstructions between them and the camera lens.

I thought this made for an interesting photo. While the large orange spot in the background may look like the setting sun, it is in fact a large bonfire that my neighbor randomly started with cardboard in his backyard as I was photographing my feeder birds 😂

"The face you make when someone much bigger than you cuts in line at the buffet." This Goldfinch wasn't too happy about a Cardinal not waiting her turn for the sunflower seed.

I thought I was going to have to explain my cosplay to "Weird Al." It turns out he knew exactly who I was, and he also loves "Hundreds of Beavers!" Whoever coined the phrase, "Never meet your role models," clearly didn't have Weird Al as their role model.
