The hole in the ozone layer was actually very serious and a global effort allowed it to recover. Y2K WAS actually a serious problem and people worked countless hours to make sure nobody even noticed. Air and water pollution was catastrophic in many places and incredible effort reversed that damage.

I find AI companies clear intent to use an abuse the UK for all it's worth then bounce, and the UK government allowing it because they think it'll make them rich fascinating. It's like watching children be tricked out of their candy. But their candy is an entire nations wealth and lively hood.

If you’re part of any creative groups, unions or other organisations in the uk you should be passing news like this along and spreading the world. News like this gets has the chance to be overlooked but if enough organisations kick up a fuss things can change.

The UK government is looking to make legal for AI companies that which any ordinary citizen could be taken to court for. It is on the cusp of approving theft *only* in this case, a truly unequivocal “rules for thee, not for me” scenario. That AI needs such special treatment indicts it utterly.
