The consist of today’s @hastingsdiesels.co.uk 🇬🇧 #WymondhamWinder train to #Norwich includes a lovely #buffet @diningcar.at with “The BIG Bar”, based on a former, 1970s, buffet coach which operated i.a. on the #Brighton line. It was of the “4-BIG” type, IG being the old telegraphic code for Brighton.

Another tour with @hastingsdiesels.co.uk this time to Norwich. If anyone was trying to have a lie in near to Finchley Road & Frognal when the engines powered up just now, they'll be well and truly awake now!

In May 2011, our Hastings DEMU ventured onto the Bletchley lines at Claydon L&NE Junction, during our Metrolander railtour. www.hastingsdiesels.co.uk/news/article... At that time, the truncated lines merely formed a headshunt. Much has since changed — it'll be good to come through at 75 mph!

A couple of updates relating to our #EastWestDEMU railtour: 1) Finalised timings have now been published: www.hastingsdiesels.co.uk/railtours/20... 2) The 26 seats in trailer Coach X which are currently unavailable, these will be released for sale on Saturday 15 March.

For our #EastWestDEMU railtour, an update: The seats originally offered have mostly sold out. Coaches X & Z were being kept back while we monitored takeup of seats. *We now intend to release coach Z and some of the seats in coach X at the start of tomorrow, Thursday 20 February.*

Here's the saloon of 60001, our un-restored motor coach that was started-up the other day. A bit grubby, but it's also amazing to think that this coach last carried passengers as the leading vehicle of the 23:12 Tonbridge to Hastings on the final day of BR operation, 11 May 1986. 📸 John Atkinson

We thought you might be amused to hear that today we started-up our remaining motor coach, S60001. This is the first time it's run since BR days in 1986! It's had new coolant, lubricant, a jump-start, and will need a new voltage regulator (no aux output at present)... but it's good to have it run!
