Kon'nichiwa from Japan! Travelling on the country’s last remaining sleeper train tonight, the Sunrise Express, from Takamatsu to Tokyo. My home for the night is, er, a hard bit of carpet - or to use the local term, a nobinobi ‘seat’. And yes, Shinkansens will follow… @seatsixtyone.bsky.social

It’s never ‘too often’ for Trenitalia to change branding. Today it’s the turn of flagship Frecciarossa 1000 trains to have a new logo. The old ‘FS’ & Trenitalia logo has been dropped, as on to the new green & yellow Regionale livery. Sinistra: old. Destra: new.

#SNCF 🇫🇷 #CC6520 is seen here at Aix-les-Bains in the French Alps on a #TER service in August 2004. The train is composed of #USI, #UIC and #Corail stock. In the 1970s and 1980s Class #CC6500 locos used to work SNCF‘s most prestigious trains on DC lines. They finished their career on regional duties.

In the early 2000s, in #Belgium 🇧🇪, one could still see loco-hauled services like the one on the photo: an #SNCB #NMBS Class 62 diesel, working a train composed of #M2 type cars. The #Geraardsbergen to #Gent line in western Belgium was one of the places where one could witness this type of operation.
