First book of 2026 completed! Despite being short, this book is ✨️ dense ✨️ and prosey so I took my time with it. I am more focused on writing in 2026, so I don't think I'll hit 2025's totals. But am loving the variety of what I read now.

It is deeply unfair that I'm expected to do anything but create in solitude throughout the winter. I was mean to be a nobleman's son pretending at being a writer in an empty mansion in the countryside every winter.

To me, Christmas isn't about perfection or consumerism. It's about family togetherness. It's about dancing with yetis. It's about making ill-advised, Faustian bargains with the Peppermint Man. It's about shrinking down the super rich and trapping them in snow globe pocket dimensions.

As we get called back to the office for a "return to work", this dog's rampant enthusiasm for this directive is fueling my will to live.

The more the better BUT I don't like reading (or writing) scenes where I feel like a character's vulnerability is taken advantage of in a way that causes harm. I dnf if the characters are bad communicators but are pushing limits that require clarity/honesty. Let's model sensible sensuality.
