That was specifically new information, or at minimum, less-than-widely-disseminated information, compared to a lot of what was in there, too. Journalism, what is it? Bari Weiss doesn’t know.

Yes, CECOT is a concentration camp in the guise of a prison. The Venezuelans were the first people to *ever* be released from CECOT since Bukele opened the prison in January 2023. Seriously. The first.

Landry rushed to clarify he isn't resigning as governor of Louisiana and this will be, like, his side gig I guess. The state constitution explicitly bans state officeholders from simultaneously holding any federal office.

It’s one thing to believe in the abstract that authoritarian, fascist, or personalist regimes displace expertise for loyalty, it’s entirely a different thing to watch it happen all over the place in your country.

voice—bagman John Malone—asked CEO David Zaslav to spike the anticipated blockbuster movie Batgirl after filming was finished. Was it bad? No, just pro-LGBT, and spiking a *popular, beloved, anticipated* LGBT product is much, much more important than making money.

Sort of. New Atheism was popular in 2000s Israel; it's much easier to modify "religion is bad, lol @ Jesus" to "religion is bad, lol @ Tanakh" when your framework for religious Jews is the Rabbinate, the Haredi parties, the settler movement, and bans on public transport on Saturdays.

OPTO is permitted under the current contract on some lines running shorter trainsets, mostly on nights and weekends. The vetoed law would have overridden this and required a second conductor to be put on all trains, even if they have safely been run under OPTO for over 20 years.

Biden ran a point and a half ahead of House Dems generally. But more relevant: you know what winning a seat by 13 points instead of 8 points gets you? Absolutely nothing. Even if Casten traded away a few points he didn't need anyway in order to go further on whatever issue, that's rational behavior!

data is important, measurement of public opinion is important, but politics also isn't a machine. there are a vast number of qualitative factors at work. and people themselves are unpredictable.
