In working on the no gen AI directory, I've looked at a LOT of artist portfolios. Like, 350+ of them at this point. And I thought I'd compile what I was seeing done right, what surprised me (positively), and then what I was commonly seeing done wrong. Use this to tweak your own portfolio!

EVERY artist absolutely ADORES art made people who are not trained. We all look at it with absolute joy because it feels like the purest art that's possible. We have all this training, but with it comes a lack of purity, and we spend our entire lives in futility trying to achieve that purity again.

Someone asked for an app to point your camera at a color and find matches. Cool. Here. BUT ALSO: I'm colorblind and never thought to make this for myself! Save colors ("new paint," "mom's fave"), get colorblind-friendly complements, simulate what you see vs. what others see. Legit using this daily.
