I’m an aerospace engineer. I’ve worked in part design, integration, flight testing, and test planning. The amount of effort that goes into making aviation products safe for the public is staggering. However, all that hard work can be undermined by disinvestment in the system that operates them.

There is still a lot of investigation needed to determine the root cause of this tragedy, but we do know that commercial aviation in America is strained far beyond what is reasonable to ensure safety. Between DOGE cuts to incoming ATCs, the shutdown of DHS/TSA, and lack of investment… (1/)
