It's crazy that so much chat at the moment is about petrol prices. That is not the most important thing about Americans bombing Iran. Actual people are dying, and all this really tells us is that we are way too reliant on fossil fuels and need to move to renewables urgently.

Here we are again. In 2022–23 Europe spent €800bn subsidising fossil fuels to keep energy bills down. Imported fossil fuels mean volatile prices. The real solution is not new suppliers but a shift to clean energy.
