We've upgraded the OpenOMF scene palette from 256 colors to 1024 colors via some palette index remap trickery. Now a modded, high resolution, pilot portrait can use 256 full colors (not just 84 like the original) and 64 of them can even be entirely custom to that portrait. Should be out soonish.
