25 years ago I directed my 1st @ecpr.bsky.social Workshop (with Shaun Bowler) that led to an edited volume, the start of a fascinating period of research on the modernization of election campaigns, & a bunch of great new friends. No other political science conference matches the Joint Sessions.

I'm hiring another postdoc (research-focused, for almost 5 years) for my @erc.europa.eu project on the educational cleavage! I'm looking for someone with strong quantitative text-analysis skills (e.g. #NLP, #LLM, etc.) to study the role of political actors in cleavage formation.

Encouraging information for younger scholars: don't give up on a paper, even if it has been rejected several times! Regrettably, I did not keep track of my submissions, but all of my papers were eventually published somewhere.

This is really useful information! Reviewers who can't be bothered to reply at all or who accept and then fail to deliver reviews are the worst. I see the same problem with grant applications. If you don't want to review, saying no immediately helps everybody.

Maybe surprisingly, a majority accept the invite. The declines are almost the same between the two journals (JEPP has an 'unavailable' option too). Just to say that the 'no response' is the worst, because it can delay things. Please respond, even (especially) if it's to say 'no'!
