I love learning about video game technology and what goes behind the scenes, but there's no group of people I trust less with gameplay/story impressions than tech reviewers. Hearing them talk about gameplay systems and mechanics just drives me up a wall.

Honestly, I don't like the vast majority of action RPGs these days. I feel like my tastes have just gotten stricter on that front. But when there's one that hits, it hits HARD. I booted up Nioh 2 after a long while and man. It's still one of the greatest games ever made.

Basically every AAA game these days has their roots in Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid 1, and Ocarina of Time. It's honestly crazy just how you can trace almost everything in modern games to those three games.
