Another random thought - the first Paranormasight was also announced in a Nintendo Direct, but only in the Japanese Direct. The fact that this one made it into the English Direct really speaks to how strong the cult following around the game became in the west. Pretty cool!

I was very inspired by the first Paranormasight, which came out about a year into DI's development. The music really resonated with me; very much to my taste, similar to DI's approach (lots of acoustic guitar and piano). Especially odd considering Horii still asserts that player discovery is a core aspect of DQ that sets it apart from the more roller-coaster Final Fantasy approach. The HD2D games changed a few things in ways I didn't love, but this just doesn't sound like a Dragon Quest game at all 🤔

Really happy to see this. Very unique game that it'd be cool for more people to get exposed to. It may surprise you just how engaging this kind of dialogue-free, bite-sized narrative experience with minimal but precise ADV gameplay can be.

I saw that people were talking about that odd period where Square Enix released a whole bunch of smaller scale games around 2022-2023. Out of all the cult classics that came out of that time, my favorite was definitely Paranormasight. I even made a thread about the history behind the game's creator.

Last night I finished Detective Instinct! Despite playtesting the game multiple times, I'm still left speechless whenever I reach the credits. My opinion is certainly biased, but I think Detective Instinct is a special game made with a lot of heart and love for the genre. I highly recommend it!
