Ramstein air base (most US drones etc. are controlled from there), US controls most of their operations from Germany, without it, their operations in multiple countries will be crippled - which is why they will never leave. They can't. Trump can pull some folks, but he can't close anything.

It's also one of the few foreign US military bases that has a level II trauma treatment center for wounded troops. It's also a NATO command base and it's crucial for global, African, and Middle Eastern logistical operations.
